Coast Salish Territory/Vancouver – The First Nations Summit is welcoming today’s appointment of Dave Haggard as BC’s representative to the BC Treaty Commission.
“First Nations engaged in negotiations look forward to a positive working relationship with Dave Haggard in his new role as a Commissioner of the BC Treaty Commission. His extensive background as a negotiator and mediator will be a definite asset to the Commission”, said Grand Chief Edward John of the First Nations Summit political executive.
“The role of the BCTC is important to those First Nations who are striving to negotiate fair, equitable and just treaties. It is critical that strong individuals such as Mr. Haggard be charged with the responsibility of upholding the mandate of the Commission as “keepers of the Process”, added Chief Judith Sayers, also a member of the First Nations Summit political executive.
